The winner of the Czech round of the Creative Business Cup competition was the young businesswoman Linda Šejdová with the Snuggs project. She develops menstrual panties with an absorbent layer that serves as a full replacement for existing women’s hygiene products. She will present her product at the international finals of the Creative Business Cup in Copenhagen, Denmark on 1st and 2nd of July 2019.
The second place belongs to the Optimistic Coffins project offering a timeless design of funeral coffins. At the third place ended up the start-up called Thermosolar Beehives.
Seven innovative companies from the creative industries, Snuggs, Optimistic Coffins, Thermo-Beehives, ChemLight Design, Imaglee, Foodgroot and The Greenest Company, attended the Czech National Round of the Creative Business Cup in Olomouc on March 26, 2019.
“Snuggs menstrual pants are an alternative solution for women instead of pads and tampons. We use quality materials in combination with nanofibers. We appreciate the fact that we won. Through the competition, we had the opportunity to meet potential partners and are already looking forward to an international round to Copenhagen, ”says Linda Šejdová, the author of the winning project.
CzechInvest is organizing the Czech national round of the Creative Business Cup competition for the second year. The aim of the competition is not only to connect creative entrepreneurs with investors and support their entry into global markets, but also to contribute to strengthening entrepreneurial skills and developing interdisciplinary information. More than 70 countries from five continents are involved in the international competition. Supported areas include design, fashion, architecture, advertising, film, photography, gastronomy, leisure activities, toys, music, radio, television, as well as software, computer games and 3D printers.
“The creative economy has enormous potential to become a driver of regional development. We see creativity as a key competitive advantage for Czech businesses. We are pleased to be able to spread the Creative Business Cup brand across the regions and introduce the public to our intention to support young creative businesses, which are one of the priorities of local municipalities. The event was held in Olomouc because we consider this city to be one of the most active in mapping and developing these industries. Every project presented to the finals is unique and brings the possibilities for a positive change in the environment around us, ”says Zuzana Bláhová from CzechInvest.
In addition to the final awards, a rich accompanying program was waiting for visitors at the Olomouc Na Cucky theater. For example, a 3D print of the Palacky University Science and Technology Park, a smart insole for last year’s miomove winners, Bookcrushes Librarian and Google Vault42 Assistant were presented.
The major partners of the event were Universal Robots, Cape Free, Roklen24.cz, Czechstartups.org, infoShare, Theater Na Cucky, Palacky University in Olomouc, Science and Technology Park of the Palacky University in Olomouc, HAVEL & PARTNERS, Vault 42 and Fundlift. Last year, the company miomove won. Her director Barbora Malaníková presented one of the prizes. The whole evening was held under the auspices of the Mayor of the City of Olomouc, Miroslav Žbánek.
